BOOK REVIEW ( Twitter And Tear Gas)

In this chapter book I read things that were interesting to me being the fact that the author described how technology was back in the 1900’s in Turkey. Being a witness of communication being centralized, lead to becoming part of helping people have a better way of communicating with others around the world. Becoming a programmer for IBM’s internal global she was able to get in contact with people such as her collogues/friends. Turkey was then introduced to the internet in the mid 1900’s, in wanting others to find a way to have these kinds of communication, in having the power to finally speak to others digitally. Using all sorts of social media outputs to send messages and talk to people constantly, being able to stay in touch through Facebook, Twitter, and What’s App. People would start using social media online sorts to gain the power to start a massive protest, while this protest is occurring you will see the use of tear gas looking like the streets were covered in clouds. This story leans towards the use of technology, culture, and politics. People would use birds to send a signal or messages, this was their normal way of communicating to others before the internet use was introduced to them. Of course having to send messages through pigeons was definitely the hardest form of communicating. Bringing in all kinds of movements not only technology, for example bringing tea party to the United States. I always wanted to know how United States came upon a movement such as a tea party. Being a participate in other social movements over the years but mainly digital technologies. Internet and digital tools began to spread drastically to activists and the general population. With living in turkey and the United States for most of their life, helped both turkey and US with technology for one and the other the tea party movement and plenty more. Being part of this organization, also was able to access things that were big, some in which was publicly and some that was just directed to the individual, which led to studying these absents of communication and technology. Being a computer programmer and a social science scholar, allowed to have access in data bases and other dimensions. With the use of introducing this digital internet use of technology, a terrorist group such as ISIS and white supremacist used this to manage their organization. Many Arab became bloggers with keeping in touch with others with being in prison. They would have their own codes such as “Tweeting” or “offline” just before powering off the phones so others wont worry about being kidnapped or killed. I think the only bad thing about introducing the use of internet is the fact that terrorist and hateful people use this output to form attacks and organize them, especially with sending out messages to others for example while being in prison, I hate that they are able to use such powerful digital communication for their hateful crimes.

I think I did good on this assignment more so because I really took interest in reading this book and understanding the source of these different movements the author described. I believe I should grade myself 18 to 20 points, I discussed the most interesting points I thought was important to share with others. Some people do not have any idea how turkey was introduced to having internet connections and how United States was also helped with the introduction of tea parties. I recommend for others to take time in their busy lives and read this amazing book, I wont be the only person to take some interest in this story. A lot of things were mentioned in regards to tear gas and technology that most of us are clueless about. The author best described all sorts of examples and important factors in every chapter of this book I was not bored reading this, in fact I loved it you would too.

Approaching the end of the semester

Wow guys we made it passes the first semester in college during this crazy pandemic, I hope everyone is remaining safe. I applaud everyone college is not easy especially having to this this fully remotely, we did it guys, be proud of yourself for successfully succeeding this first step. I love blogging this was by far the best assignment I had, not only does it give me my voice to talk about whatever I like, but it also lets me submit my assignments in a much easier way. I wish I was able to retake this course to keep the professor I have for American Gov. and Politics. Hopefully things change within time and we can all have our classes in the building, so we can finally meet the faces to these voices. I’m sure we all would like to return to campus, However, I wont be returning to Kingsborough due to moving to another city. Until then I will remain doing remote learning in Kingsborough till they reopen campus.

I hope you all had a good experience in college for those who are freshmen’s like myself. I love college makes me feel smart if that makes sense lol, started off ruff due to having to learn everything fast but in time I got the hang of it all and made it through the ruff time. I am pretty sure most of you can relate to my story in this because let’s face it we all experienced this for the first time with this remote learning and zoom meetings. I would love to remain blogging it will work if I have the same class which wont happen 🙁 due to my career choice I will need multiple classes to achieve the amount of credits needed. I wish everyone the best of luck and thank you for reading my blogs and taking the time out of your busy lives to comment. Take care and god bless us all.

Final slide

So for my final slide I was discussing learning about the Process of Amendments. Being that the amendments are only apart of the constitution if only it it approved with a percentage of voters from the house and senate. I did not know this believe it or not till I read this article, there are so many things that I have learned in this class for American Gov. and Politics. Before it becomes part of the Constitution is has to be approved by the state, The Amendments will then be known as “The Bill of Rights”. How cool is that to learn about it was cool for me. In that time did you know that only 10 amendments was approved by the state ? Well as I mentioned above, reading this textbook has brought many things to light for me to always remember, and pass down to my children and who ever to have a better understanding of the law.

I really do not want this class course to come to an end, I love how my professor teaches, she makes sure that we are fully aware of her assignments and she is always checks in on her students its amazing. I have learned so much things I had no clue of and I enjoyed everything. I loved learning more on the war and how women back in time fought for us women now to have equal rights, and fought so that we can vote. Even to learned more on what is happening in the world now with this pandemic, and police brutally along with voting. This class was a truly amazing and I am thankful for being a student here.
