Here is an interesting topic, Civil Rights. What do we know about this movement ? I will tell you my opinion of what I think about the Civil Rights after reading the article. The Civil Rights gives the right to treat people equally, However, there are some groups of people who were denied these right for equality. I have read and learned that everything in the government, any law field always follow the amendments, very interesting to know that all amendments play a huge role in life, also in our history. Women and men were treated differently back in the 1980’s – 1990’s. In that time frame women were allowed to serve in all combat roles with selective service system only men were allowed to be registered and not women. it is just crazy to me to read on how women were not given much rights as the men, it is why now we unite together and women and men are strong as a team.

Early in 1917, people had marched down the avenue demanding the right to vote, those who marched for this equal right was women. After so much fighting, being arrested and beaten, along came the Nineteenth Amendment that granted all women the right to vote. However, this amendment did not fully end discrimination against women such as education, employment and other situations. Being given the right to vote still did not matter women still were being treated differently to even being denied jobs due to their sexually and being sexually harassed at any work place. The Equal Rights Amendment mandated equality to all regardless to what sex they are. In which with that amendment had failed to meet the required support of the thirty eight states, by the time the deadline arrived.

I learned with the Civil Rights Movement, women were really fighting for equal rights like they did not have it easy, they were being discriminated. I thought the men had it bad back in this era but I was wrong women really had to march, protest and much more to get the rights they deserved. This makes me appreciate history so much more because they fought so long for us women in this time to have equal rights. They did all that so we can live this life with the right to vote, I will not take this for granted, and I am so proud to those who did what they could to make this happen. Imagine living in that era and having to fight for equal rights and other things that were not allowed for women to do, I am pretty sure people in this era would appreciate our history, so much to learn and understand I am looking forward to learning more and blogging, I love history.

Well I survived week 4 of college lol I know hilarious right. I love the fact that I am learning such interesting facts such as civil liberties, Federalism, the Constitution and much more. Each subject provides plenty of information to learn about and fully understand what our Government is about. My favorite subject was learning about all amendments, I got to know what each of them meant and also they are there to protect us. I did not know any of that because what protection do we have against the law? Absolutely little to none. If you do not know any of this you will not protect yourself I advice people to study this subject due to what is happening to us with the law now. I do not like what is going on with cops and other individuals it is so sad, why can’t we unite with one another and make this world better for a comfortable living environment.

I want to become a cop but now I am not really sure if that is the path I want to take again because of what is happening. If I run from this I will be weak instead I should be strong for my community and become the cop I dreamed of being. I will make a difference, I will show the world that officers can be trusted again. No I will never tolerate bad behavior but I will reason with others and try to deescalate what ever problem that is occurring. This is why studying the law is so good with being able to know everything and see how the system works. As a non police officer you are viewing both sides and either you can relate to what is going on and try making it better.

Hopefully one day we can come to an agreement and stop the violence it’s just some people and some cops who fail to make this world better. Again I do not think it is fair to always blame cops for your behavior and vise versa, we are all grown adults who know right from wrong. I will study very hard, I will get my degree, I will make it better well at least I will try the rest it’s up to you to help. I have kids to worry more about honestly I am their protection to this cruel world and system, I will not let them be sucked into this craziness, I will provide a better life for them. Everyone remain safe and always think before you act having this mind set well prevent so much and take you far in life.

I decided to create this meme only because the law enforcement has a serious problem with invading the privacy of individuals. Let me better explain, example there was a video that had went rival with an officer coming into a women’s home, where she was calmly hanging peacefully with her child. The women was just coming out the shower and only had a towel covering her body, However, this cop decided to still enter her home after being told to wait outside her door until she is fully dressed. They asked him why was he there? she said “nothing is wrong”, So instead of answering her questions he started to ask questions of his own and demanded answers. The mother did not want to answer him and she was in the right to refuse to comply, the officer then got so upset and started reading her rights and cuffed her. Remember she is only wearing a towel, she is being handcuffed what do you think happens? Her towel falls off the women is now naked and is heard saying ” Please cover me, cover me.” Then the cop says “Don’t take that attitude with cops because we don’t play. When a cop shows up, you’re not the one in charge. I don’t care if it is your house” Then a few minutes later he had her daughter remove the handcuffs and then decided to leave. The women is now pursing a law suit case.

This is why I created this meme for this main reason, why should anyone want to respect the law if the law does not respect us. Maybe cops should study their amendments so they can stop violating them, you can not enter anyone’s home if there is not a warrant on hand, or if there is any dangerous situation that you must forcefully enter the premises. Law enforcement love to over ride their power of authority until they are in the spot light and in major trouble for disobeying the law they chose to protect and serve. We ” The People” need protection, we are not suppose to fear our law enforcement. Some on duty cops must re study this subject and have a better understanding of our rights as individuals, this is one of the main reason why these riots happen due to law enforcement not caring. They kill and expect to get away with it by coming up with their excuses or lies, they violate and expect to get away with it, I believe that It’s TIME FOR CHANGE, we had enough.

Now I do believe there are some good decent cops in this world we live in. It’s just with everything that is happening the good cops are being treated wrong, I truly do not agree with that behavior. I have some friends in this field who are very nice and understanding to everyone, however, I am sure they are fearful while working with the craziness going on. We were giving these amendments to give us the protection we need against our government, there is so much things that are happening and we get little to no protection. Especially with law enforcement they get to do and say whatever they want, as we just sit and take their nonsense. I am studying for a Criminal Justice degree only because I do want to make a difference. Not being a cop I see and understand the frustration and what others are saying in having a corrupt system.

I had an incident 7 years ago, where officers approached my apartment at five o’clock in the morning telling me I am being arrested. I then said well first you guys need to give me a minute I have to get dressed and my son is asleep. One officer placed her foot by my door not letting me close it and said she will stand there while I get dressed, How is this situation ok ? Well as she stood there I got dressed feeling extremely uncomfortable, as I was done I began to ask her, why am I getting arrested? She tells me to step outside and place my hands behind my back and she will then explain when I am placed in the car. Now if you remember we have amendments which helps us in these kinds of situations which I did not remember that day, I just proceeded and got arrested. I believe someone knew that was wrong to the point that I was sent a check in 2019 for only $150 dollars for wrongfully arrest. I laughed at that checked and ripped it to pieces like how dare you belittle me with a ridiculous check. Please always know your rights trust me the amendments we have will take us a long way, I took this story seriously because of what I have been through. As I mention earlier in my story change is needed and I hope one day this world can be peaceful with less madness.

I believe for this meme assignment I will grade myself with 15 points, because I used explanations in our American Government. I explained myself in 4 paragraphs as asked, with using in text citation and also quoting statements that were said in the article I wrote about. I checked my work and revised it, creating something extremely better with little to no grammar mistakes. I then gave an example to my meme with my own real life situation that occurred for a better understanding to why I chose this meme. I believe my writing assignment will grasp readers attention because it is based on our amendments with the facts of two real life situations.

Civil Liberties is best known for constitutional protections. Civil Liberties gives people freedom and the right to privacy, this is through the Legislation and Judicial interpretation, without due process. Individuals are given the right to a free trial with the right to life and equal treatments. This also comes with the “The Bill Of Rights”, given people the freedom of speech, However; there are times now in which we ” The People” do not feel as if we have any freedom to any rights. i do not think we have much of these rights, Why ? I’ll tell you, once the law enforcement or any one high above say something guess what your rights to anything goes out the window. We have amendments that protect us from the law if needed, but cops as the main violators do not care about it. Now in life they are being punish for doing so.

I do see change only because cops are being charged or fired if they violate any amendments. This can and will cause less riots in this world, like what is going on now with the “BLM” movement. BLM movement was caused by police officers not respecting our rights. So my point is being this has happened and cops were being fired or suspended have you noticed how cops are being more mindful in their actions instead of being reckless. We are in need of change and I know it is not all cops at fault, the people in this world also need to create change to make our living environment much better and safe. We have innocent kids who die from stray bullets due to reckless behavior so no we can not put our officers at fault all the time, if we want them to change it is only right for US to change with them.

So today’s topic will be about zoom meetings and assignments. Being so we have everything on zoom gets a bit overwhelming, due to some video chats not functioning properly. With that happening causes classes to be cancelled and that gets irritating. One of my classes is always getting cancelled and it gets me upset because how are we every going to learn anything that way. I wish the campus was open would make things 100 times easier for us first time freshmen’s. Some days it does not even be the professor who cancels, It is totally out of their control if the link crashes. There was a time when I was just feeling to stressed about everything and was ready to drop all my classes. You know what pushed me ? My kids, If I fail myself I also fail them. I thank god that these professors are so reasonable and very understanding, Makes me happy that they work with us and also do not give any slack for missing assignments, Is why I make sure to submit all early or on time. For those who read my blogs PLEASE never give up you made it this far to fail.

Now as for assignments boy can they be tricky. There are so many that will be due around the same time frame and month, that you might start to lose focus. This is why I print and write down all my upcoming assignments that are due, this sure helps me. What is the crazy tuff part is when having to submit any work has to be done through email and I know that can get scary because what if your professor does not notice you submitted your work and gives you a failing grade then what ? This is always my fear. I know through blackboard u can submit work, Yes but only when doing a Quiz, and some professors uses message box on it as well. I am sure in due time this will eventually become easier you just need to follow your syllabus with the steps they tell you to take including assignments, and things will be very smooth.

I just had my very first Quiz with my class of introduction to criminal justice. I studied and wrote down notes I felt was needed and important and I scored a 96/100 which gave me an A. I was beyond happy and impressed with myself, this goes to show others even though things can get difficult and ruff you can do just put you full focus into your work. I always re check my course syllabus everyday to see if any changes were made, I start checking off assignments that I have finished and submitted. I think I am doing a good job even though saying how hard it can be. I chose to want this degree and this is exactly what I will accomplish. I learned to never lose hope if you do that’s where you will fall. I will look back at all my hard work and all my blogs and smile, Why ? because I made it you can too.

Do you know there were fifty-five delegates that arrived in Philadelphia around 1787, for a meeting which was known as the Constitution Convention. People were seeking protection rights for individuals against the government abuse. Wishing that they were able to provide political rights to all free men. Those who were able to have a decision agreed upon the election of George Washington, Commander to the continental army, the hero to American Revolution. With learning more about this you will get to fully understand more about the constitution and how it was created and used, to even understanding the Bill of Rights.

After passing time twelve states discussing and debating, They came out with a work out plan to a new blueprint. This solved many conflicts between small and large states to even the northern and southern states. The constitution consist of seven articles which were divided into three branches, The Executive branch, Federal and Legislative. Each branch has been created with a system of checks and balance. They can restrict the power to others and require them to work together.

So today my blog will be about American Government, There were some things that I have learned about this particular subject in class today. As for most I’ve just got back into school so learning all this again is a plus for me especially the 1st, 2nd and to the 3rd amendments….etc.. So lets discuss something very interesting, What is Government? Living in this world full of all laws, Wouldn’t you want to fully understand our Government ? I DO. The government literally controls your life and I say this because with one say the world can be on lock down, With the law telling us what we should eat or even to places where we can go. People can work their heads off for junk change because their checks will go all on taxes and all kinds of fees before even receiving a payment. You can not go out and do what you want because the law says it’s forbidden and I do not mean doing a crime because I am so against that. Look at what is happening now because the Government said ” YOU MUST WEAR A MASK IN PUBLIC AND IN STORES, OR BE FINED” what do you think we must do ? We must obey the law and do as we are told. I understand It Is for our safely but my point being is the Government always has full control.

Now there are some good things in our Government that shows some gratitude as I have also learned from self experience and reading. For one they help us with school pay, such as child care, lunches when needed, Colleges , public schools and so on. We even get health care also provided by the Government which is great, so you see It’s not all that bad. We have courts, lawyers, officers who work for the government but try their best in protecting us all, There’s always the good and bad with our Government. I’m sure people know that we may be in crisis but we are getting help by the Government.

I also learned that because of the Government public goods we can fish freely and drink fresh water, we also have public school education, Mail services and national security. Now if you read on this you can view that the toll goods provide Private school education, Cable Television, and Turnpikes. I was never the one to read about Government and politics or anything in that field, It is because of this college course that has me very focus and interested in learning much more. I look forward in reading and blogging more about things I will learn in this course hope you enjoy reading my blogs.

Got up this morning thinking I had classes today in which I DID NOT, funny right ? but that is ok. I still had to wake up early due to my kids having to do remote learning as well for their classes. My 4 year old would rather enter a school building and play with his friends, I’m sure soon enough he will fully understand why I chose fully remote as of now till further notice. Now with my 10 year old he rather not be in the school grounds, He says ” Home is better ” I guess they have different opinions with school, until then I think they off to a great start.

This virus completely changed our lives in a split second. It went from being able to hug and kiss your loved ones and friends, And doing large gatherings, to then fold into Quarantine, face mask being required, at one point curfew, and of course the 6 feet distancing. There were plenty of people who just was not able to follow these rules the government issued, In fact they chose to continue trying to live the life they had before this madness. Now I have noticed there are lesser cases in New York City and that is amazing if u ask me especially after the amount of deaths that unfolded. If we all work together we can beat this thing called Corona virus, It’s not welcomed here. I talk about this because as I wrote in my previous blog that I’ve contracted this virus and it was not pretty. We shall get through this set back and move forward much stronger.

Enough talk about this ugly virus right ! I hope everyone’s day is going great and you guys have a wonderful weekend. I remember the first day my classes began I was in Florida, Paused all the fun stuff and got straight to my schooling. Can you believe me if I shared to you I even did classes in the car with Wi-Fi , It was a long drive back home. See by me doing all this just to get to my classes shows me how responsible I really am as an adult. This is new for me and so far I love it, sorry if I bored who ever reads this but this is my life I will blog all kinds of things weekly, Yea my life can be very entertaining at the most.

This is my first year of college , very challenging due to covid so everything is online. I’m a mom of two boys who also are doing remote learning . Covid has changed everything but we will make the best out of this situation and continue to succeed. I know first hand how covid triggers your body sadly a few months ago I however was in contact with someone who had it and passed it to me. I like to talk about these things to help others somewhat understand more about what it does. This virus attacked my lungs my breathing was not good had me on the asthma machine almost 4/5 times a day, very horrible so please keep safe and wear masks. I am all better now and cleared from covid.

Now I like to share my experience in how I finally made it to college. First let me say it was not easy but yet I have made it passed all obstacles that were in my way. I was in high school and got kicked out over stupidly behavior following the wrong crowd. I then became a mom, I am now 30 years old and I can tell you that my kids changed me for the better in maturity level. I’ve changed from making young girl decisions to making wise adult decisions, and this is one of them attending college. I needed to study and refresh my memory and go for my GED exam, I managed to pass three but needed to retake 2. A GED you need 5 subjects to pass, I took the ones failed over and passed. Receiving my certificate in the mail was the happiest I’ve been and right away I applied to Kings Borough Community College. My goal is to have my kids proud of me and follow my steps in also graduating from college, they need to understand how important school is and I will be the perfect role model so show them.

I can see myself graduating with my babies right beside me. They definitely give me hope each day, I REFUSE TO FAIL. This is my first semester in being in college, so I’m trying to get familiar with everything. I am so proud of myself for not giving up and making it this far, I always say having kids does not stop your life in fact they make it better. I say that because of them my life is better, they made me become the women I am today. I was always the type of person to get work done fast and correct, I learned to never have it get pilled up. I know I will make it through college I have the ambition in me to do so.
